There isn’t much we haven’t encountered on our journey.

With lived experience and have undertaken many years of training in sensory, sleep, communication & challenging behaviour.

Acorn Bank Watermill Trust

Purpose/aim of your organisation:
1. To preserve for the public benefit Acorn Bank Watermill, a Grade II* listed 19th Century watermill, located on the National Trust's Acorn Bank Estate at Temple Sowerby, Penrith, Cumbria CA10 1SP as a building of architectural and historical interest.

2. To advance the education of the public by establishing Acorn Bank Watermill as a heritage centre which:

• offers the public an opportunity to see a working water powered corn mill and associated machinery that mills wheat and produces merchantable flour thereby demonstrating the art of flour milling and the critically endangered craft of millwrighting using, as far as possible, traditional methods; and

• enhances public knowledge and understanding of the watermill's role both in the context of the nation's wider agricultural and industrial heritage and its role in local cultural and social history, including its relationship with gypsum mining in Cumbria.

Action for Children

Purpose/aim of your organisation:
We are commissioned by Westmorland and Furness Council to deliver a 0-19 Child and Family Support Service across South Lakeland. We are based in 7 Children's Centres but also deliver work in schools, community venues and family homes. We work with children, young people and families and offer both universal and targeted support. This includes:
- Advice and Information drop in sessions on a range of topics e.g. healthy eating, supporting children with additional needs, staying safe online
- Play and learning sessions for pre-school children and their parents
- Targeted group sessions to develop resilience, support parenting or improve emotional wellbeing
- One to one support to meet the specific needs of children, young people and families
- Signposting to partner agencies or specialist support

Action for Children works across the UK. From before they are born until they are into their twenties, we help disadvantaged children across the UK. We help them through fostering or adoption – and by intervening early to stop neglect and abuse. We make life better for disabled children. We influence policy and advocate for change. Our 7,000 staff and volunteers operate over 600 services, improving the lives of 370,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers every year. Action Tutoring was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to make the benefits of tutoring accessible to pupils who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their background. Action Tutoring is a charity dedicated to closing the attainment gap and creating a more equitable future for young people.

We're building a diverse community of volunteer tutors who are passionate about educational equity. We are constantly seeking dedicated volunteers from all walks of life to tutor and support pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage in maths and English.

Action Tutoring partners with schools to provide cost-effective, evidence-based tutoring that supports pupils facing disadvantage to unlock their full potential.
