Are you retired or soon to retire? Do you want to stay active in your community?

Join us to find out how VOLUNTEERING is right for you!

  • Meet people
  • Get out and improve your wellbeing
  • Make a difference
  • Stay connected
  • Use your skills and experience to benefit the community
  • Try new things

In this session we will explore the many ways that you can get involved. You could be a telephone befriender, based in your own home. You could be a driver helping people around the area access services. You could plant trees, run art sessions, read with children in schools, help with digital skills, sort stock in a charity shop, welcome people on a charity’s reception desk … there are so many opportunities!

We will be on hand to support you to find what you might like to do, and we will also show you how to search for volunteer opportunities using the Volunteering in Cumbria Portal ( https://volunteering.cumbriacvs.org.uk ), as well as answering any questions. If you wish and are able to, please bring along your laptop or tablet computer or smartphone, so that we can support you to get onto the Portal.

This will be a sociable session. Refreshments will be provided (tea, coffee, biscuits, cake).

The session will be delivered by Cumbria CVS in partnership with Age Friendly South Lakeland.

This event is part of our This Is Us project, made possible by Westmorland and Furness Council through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
