Please join us at this on-line briefing session on Prevent presented by the Local Authorities Community Safety Partnership Officers.
Prevent is part of the Governments Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST) and aims to help and support people who may be susceptible to being radicalised and becoming involved in violent extremism and/or terrorism.
This is a short briefing to explain a little bit more about what Prevent is, what the signs might be and what to do about it.
Why is it relevant to me?
Prevent is like many safeguarding issues as people are groomed into believing and doing things they would not normally do. Like all types of abuse this can be devasting for them, their friends/families and their communities. Through your work you may encounter someone who is being radicalised.
Prevent operates in a ‘pre-criminal’ space and provides the opportunity to stop this from happening by helping and supporting an individual who may end up harming themselves and/or others.
