Come along, share your ideas, and help us rethink what ‘helping out’ looks like in your community. In our friendly session we want to hear from you on what works really well in your community and what does not.

Help Shape How We Talk About Supporting Our Community

In South Lakeland and Furness, we know that the word ‘volunteering’ doesn’t always connect with everyone. But helping out, supporting neighbours, and being part of something bigger can.

We’re inviting you to a relaxed, creative session to explore how we can better talk about getting involved in our community—using language that feels real, relevant, and inspiring.

  • Share what motivates you
  • Tell us what messaging works (and what really doesn’t!)
  • Help us find new ways to encourage more people to get involved
  •

We also recognise that Barrow has a unique sense of community spirit. We want to understand what that looks like —and how we can encourage more people to lend a hand in ways that feel right for them.

Who’s it for?

  • People already helping out in their community
  • People volunteering in their community
  • Anyone who’s thought about getting involved but hasn’t taken that step yet
  •

Whether you give your time regularly or are just curious, your voice matters.

Come along, share your ideas, and help us rethink what ‘helping out’ looks like in your community.
