Policy workshop – Why you should have an Environmental and sustainability policy and how to write one

How green is your organisation? Have you thought about how your activities impact the environment? Do you carry out environmental audits? Have you adopted an environmental sustainability policy? If this is something you have never thought of or have not got round to implementing then this workshop is for you. This session will discuss why the voluntary sector can be part of the green movement and support you in creating a policy that helps you make an environmental difference and potential cost savings.

Aim: 
To empower organisations to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and develop effective policies and action plans. 

Learning Objectives:  

Understand the importance of environmental sustainability in the voluntary sector. 

Explore the Charity Commission’s Environment and Sustainability policy. 

Learn how to create and implement your own environmental sustainability policy and action plan. 

Summary: 

The Charity Commission encourages charities to take environmental responsibility seriously and manage their impact on communities and the environment. By integrating environmental sustainability into your operations, you can make a significant positive impact on both your communities but also broader global environment. ‘Going green’ contributes to your efficiency, adds value to your proposal and increasing number of funders look at how you can demonstrate that commitment.  

 In this training session, we'll delve into the Charity Commission’s Environment and Sustainability policy and guide you through the process of writing your own policy and action plan. Whether your organisation already has an environmental sustainability action plan or is just starting out, this session will provide valuable insights and practical steps to help you become more environmentally responsible.
